Can you craft from storage after Hotfix #4?
Hotfix #4, September 14, 2026, increases crafting reach to lockers across a full-size room. It also fixes incorrect ingredient deductions across multiple containers and makes refunds match the inputs actually used.
This supersedes the launch-week advice to keep lockers immediately beside a station. The patch gives no exact distance in meters and does not promise access to every container across the whole base. These are Steam patch notes; check your platform and installed update.
Materials are stored, but the recipe says they are missing
Use this diagnostic sequence to separate missing ingredients from storage access. These are suggested checks, not a guaranteed fix.
- Read the selected recipe’s item names and required quantities. Check the same recipe throughout the test.
- Try crafting close to the container holding those ingredients. Compare which quantities the recipe counts.
- If they are still missing, move only the required ingredients into your backpack and check the recipe again.
- If the ingredients count now, storage access may explain the difference. If they still do not count, check the exact ingredient names, quantities and any requirements shown by the crafting device.
Before rebuilding or moving your base, test one recipe and one container. A successful backpack test does not establish a universal storage radius.
Fertilizer: what is the missing ingredient?
Community answer: if you already have biomass and horns, players identify the missing ingredient as Canine Teeth in this September 9–13 discussion. Check the quantities in your own recipe; we have not verified a numerical recipe.
A second fertilizer discussion points to Canuls, including a Wildfire Canul burrow in the Scarlet Zone. Other replies disagree about animal identification or report finding no teeth. Treat that location as a player lead, not a guaranteed spawn or a tested route.

How do I get biomass from the Composter?
Hotfix #3, September 11, adds the Second Life quest after Miracle Season. It directs you to build a Composter, put plant matter into it and wait for biomass. Players who already finished Miracle Season receive the new quest when loading their save.
The announcement does not specify processing time, yield or construction quantities. Follow the objective and recipe displayed in your installed version.
