Start by equipping your gathering tools and using the resource interaction prompt. For your next objective, check the blueprint or recipe before gathering, use nearby lockers for crafting, and follow the research method for the plant you are working with. Use an equipped gathering tool
- Equip the tool your target requires. Keeping it in your inventory is not the same as equipping it.
- Approach a compatible target and look for its interaction prompt.
- Use the displayed interaction button. The developer gives E as the PC example; use your own on-screen prompt if it differs.

Choose the next step for your current objective
- Gathering: equip the chisel, pruner or trowel and use the target’s interaction prompt. Gathering steps.
- Building: read the selected blueprint before collecting materials. Hotfix #4 removes Diodes from building recipes. Version check.
- Crafting: stations on Hotfix #4 can reach lockers across a full-size room. Check missing ingredients.
- Growing and research: larger plants use branch-based grafting in the developer-marked answer. Follow the reported method.
- After Miracle Season: the Second Life quest introduces the Composter for biomass. Composter objective.
This is a task-based checklist. Only the Miracle Season → Second Life dependency above is established by these patch notes; the list is not a complete quest order.
If the tool still does nothing
- Check that the tool is equipped.
- Try a target that requires that tool. A different plant or rock may need a different interaction.
- If no interaction works, note your game version, target and equipped tool before reporting the problem.
Playing the demo?
The trial ends after two hours or at its story milestone, whichever comes first. Reaching the milestone can end your session early. A developer says older saves need a new game to use the increased two-hour limit. Check demo limits and save information before restarting.
